Delete your SceneCap data

SceneCap has no app account to close. Most content lives on your Mac, so deletion happens locally and can be scoped to AI output, demo data, recordings, or the whole app.

Delete AI-generated data but keep videos

  1. Open SceneCap → Settings → Data Controls.
  2. Select Delete AI-generated data and confirm.

This removes transcript text and segments, language, summaries, structured Insights, provider metadata, generation history, usage metadata, processing status, and AI errors from recording metadata. It keeps the video, custom title, tags, notes, and audio facts.

Delete recordings

Delete recordings from SceneCap's library or from the save folder you selected. Check the Trash if you also want to remove recoverable deleted files, and keep any export you still need. SceneCap's retention setting can automatically clean up older recordings when enabled.

Clear demo data

Open the demo workspace from Data Controls and choose Clear Demo. Demo data is stored separately in SceneCap's Application Support area, so this does not remove real recordings.

Remove BYOK credentials

Clear each configured OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini API key in SceneCap's AI settings. Keys are stored in the macOS Keychain; deleting only a recording does not remove them. You may also revoke the key in the provider's own account console.

Stop diagnostic and product events

Turn off Telemetry and Crash Reporting in Data Controls. Telemetry opt-out stops new product events; the local activation checklist is retained separately. Disabling Sentry stops future crash reporting but does not itself erase diagnostics a third party already processed.

Remove all local SceneCap data

First export anything you need. Delete your configured recording folder contents, clear demo data and AI keys, then remove SceneCap's Application Support data and preferences using Finder or your organization's managed-device procedure. Uninstalling the app alone may leave recordings, preferences, and Keychain items behind.

Third-party deletion

For data sent through BYOK, request deletion from OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google under that provider's controls. For crash reports, contact SceneCap support so the request can be routed to Sentry. Apple controls purchase history and transaction records. Website services such as Cloudflare, GitHub, or Threads control data they process.

Support requirement: a monitored privacy email and a verified process for identifying and deleting Sentry records still need to be established before paid public launch.
