Legal
Terms of Use
These terms govern use of the SceneCap beta website and macOS app.
Effective: August 8, 2026 · Beta terms pending final legal review
1. Acceptance and eligibility
By downloading, purchasing, or using SceneCap, you agree to these terms and any applicable Apple terms. If you use SceneCap for an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these terms for it.
2. License
Subject to these terms and applicable App Store rules, SceneCap grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app for lawful personal or business purposes. You may not sell, sublicense, reverse engineer except where law expressly permits, bypass feature gates, or use SceneCap to violate another person's rights.
3. Your recordings and consent
You retain rights in content you create. You are responsible for obtaining any consent required to record a screen, voice, meeting, presentation, or confidential material, and for complying with workplace policies and local recording, privacy, copyright, and data-protection laws. SceneCap does not determine whether a recording is lawful.
4. Free and Pro
Free includes core recording and tiny/base local transcription. SceneCap Pro is a non-consumable one-time purchase that unlocks the features listed on the Pricing page. Pro is not a subscription and does not include third-party AI usage credits. The price shown by the App Store at checkout is authoritative.
5. Purchases, restore, and refunds
Apple processes App Store transactions. Access is granted only after StoreKit verifies a qualifying purchase and can be removed after a verified refund, revocation, or other loss of entitlement. Restore Purchases asks Apple to synchronize eligible purchases. Refund requests are handled under Apple's process and applicable law; see Refunds.
6. Cloud AI and third-party services
If you choose BYOK or another cloud operation, requests go directly from your Mac to OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini using your provider credentials. You are responsible for provider fees, account status, acceptable-use compliance, and reviewing provider terms. SceneCap does not guarantee third-party availability or output accuracy.
7. AI output
Transcripts, summaries, Insights, and action items may be incomplete or wrong. Review outputs before relying on them, especially for legal, medical, financial, employment, security, or other high-impact decisions.
8. Beta software and updates
SceneCap may contain defects and features may change before general availability. Keep source recordings and important exports backed up. Developer ID builds may offer direct-app updates; Mac App Store builds follow Apple's update path.
9. Acceptable use
Do not use SceneCap to distribute malware, infringe intellectual property, evade access controls, record people unlawfully, or process content you do not have a right to use.
10. Disclaimers and liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SceneCap is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the SceneCap operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, loss of recordings, loss of data, or third-party service charges. Rights that cannot legally be waived remain unaffected.
11. Changes and termination
You may stop using SceneCap at any time. Access may be suspended for misuse or material breach where permitted. Updated terms will be posted here with a revised effective date; continued use after notice constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
